Incorporate AAPI needs into ongoing bullying prevention strategy including addressing under-reporting in the AAPI community, limited English proficiency, and engaging youth to be "more than a bystander." Increase outreach to the AAPI community to increase awareness on how to file a federal harassment/bullying claim and to engage youth in bullying prevention activities.
To ensure that SEAs, LEAS, and IHEs have the resources necessary to disaggregate data on the AAPI community by compiling a report analyzing submissions from data disaggregation RFI including promising practices.
Provide technical assistance on a voluntary basis to SEAS, LEAs, and IHEs.
Ensure that the glass ceiling of AAPIs in senior grades is addressed in the OPM Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives including continuing barrier analysis, mentoring, and other career development programs as recommended by OPM/EEOC.
Identify promising practices for fostering educational equity and access for AAPI EL students and LEP parents by identifying OCR case monitoring activities that have resulted in increasing meaningful access to educational programs for EL students and also those resulting in increased language access for LEP parents to important school-related information.
Coordinate with other POCs on dissemination activities in line with ED Agency Goals as seen in document for AAPI community. Continue outreach and community engagement with AAPI community (IRC/Monica Bates; Web Team/Edward Ohnemus).
Increase access for AANAPISIs to additional sources of funding through technical assistance and notice of specific grant opportunities by conducting an outreach campaign to AANAPISIs in regard to other Federal agencies that have MSI programs.
Compile data and guidance and develop research to compare successful grant applications with unsuccessful grant applications.
Increase the number of teachers in schools who have the language skills necessary to address the needs of the AAPI community by promoting specific training for pre-service and in-service teachers working with English Learners through OELA's National Professional Development (NPD) grant program.
